When buying furniture, many people like to buy cheap and high-quality products. Some businesses have taken advantage of this psychology of consumers and made a fuss about furniture materials.
Especially for solid wood furniture, some businesses like to change the concept, while others use part of the solid wood. Of course, during the introduction, they will all claim that the manufacturer\’s special price is cheap. Perhaps the clues won’t be discovered until consumers actually use it.
The market supervision department here also reminds consumers: You must think twice when buying furniture, and do not blindly pursue the so-called special price, because you will only buy the wrong one but not the wrong one.
The receipt said all solid oak, but what I received was rubber wood
On July 21 this year, Mr. Chen came to a home furnishing store in Xiasha and wanted to buy two beds. and four bedside tables. At that time, the shopping guide recommended a Nordic-style product to him.
The shopping guide told Mr. Chen during the introduction that the bedside table and bed frame of this product are both solid wood and made of oak. Moreover, the shopping guide also promised that if Mr. Chen really wanted it, he could apply to the manager for additional discounts. While talking, the shopping guide clicked on the calculator and finally told Mr. Chen that if he took away both sets, it would only cost 5,000 yuan.
Hearing this, Mr. Chen was very moved. However, he still had some hesitation in his heart: If the price was so cheap, could it be made of solid wood? The shopping guide immediately comforted him: \”Don\’t worry about this, it must be genuine.\” After saying that, the other party also stated on the supply and sales contract: \”All solid oak.\” At this time, Mr. Chen paid the 1,000 yuan deposit with peace of mind, and both parties It was also agreed that the balance would be paid after the goods were delivered.
In mid-October, the merchant delivered the bed to Mr. Chen’s home. During the installation, Mr. Chen saw that the bed did not look like oak, so he muttered to himself: \”Why does this not feel like oak?\” Unexpectedly, the master replied to him: \”Yes, this is rubber wood, not oak.\” Mr. Chen\’s heart skipped a beat, and he asked the master again: \”Are these two materials the same?\” The installation master told him that these two are completely different tree species, and the prices are also very different. Later, he checked on his mobile phone and learned that the texture of oak is very hard and heavy to the touch; while the texture of rubber wood is much softer and lighter to the touch. In terms of price, oak is much more expensive than rubber wood.
Mr. ChenFeeling that he had been cheated, he complained to the Xiangsha Market Supervision Office and asked the operator to return the goods, refund the deposit, and pay 5,000 yuan in compensation.
Subsequently, staff from the Market Supervision Office came to the business owners to learn about the situation. Manager Zhang said that his batch of goods was imported from a furniture company in Jiangxi, and they were all made of rubber wood. Regarding the situation encountered by Mr. Chen, he explained: \”This salesman is new and he doesn\’t know much about the difference between oak and rubber wood. He thought they were the same kind, which led to such a misunderstanding. Moreover, at this price, he also bought Not oak.\” In order to apologize to Mr. Chen, Zhang expressed his willingness to return the goods, return the deposit of 1,000 yuan, and compensate for another 1,000 yuan. At the same time, Zhang will bear the shipping costs for returns.
But Mr. Chen disagreed, believing that he had suffered consumer fraud and should receive a refund of one and three indemnity according to the Consumer Rights Protection Law. In this regard, the Xiasha Market Supervision Office stated that the misunderstanding occurred because the shopping guide himself did not understand the situation well, so subjectively it was not deliberate fraud.
Mr. Chen did not accept this and said that he would protect his rights and interests through legal means in the future.
The requested all-solid wood door was “mixed” with density board
On January 6 this year, Ms. Liu was shopping for wooden doors in a market in Xiasha. In a store selling solid wood doors, she spotted a special product. At that time, the store said that this wooden door was made of pure solid wood, and the wooden door and door cover only cost 1,300 yuan.
Ms. Liu has a 3-year-old baby at home, so she also pays special attention to materials. After repeatedly asking the shopping guide, the other party said that the wooden doors are all customized and will be customized according to the size and customer needs.
Hearing this, Ms. Liu felt relieved. She placed an order for three doors on the spot and filled in the address. On the sales list, Ms. Liu also specifically asked the shopping guide to note: The wooden doors do not require any density board. Later, when the master came to measure the size, the salesperson also made final confirmation with Ms. Liu. \”When confirming, I explained again that this wooden door does not require any density board.\” Ms. Liu said.
After the door was installed, Ms. Liu felt good after using it for a while. It happened that a door needed to be installed in the kitchen at home, so in June, she went to the store to order the same door. But this time, she also asked the shopping guide to indicate on the sales list: \”I don\’t want any density board at all.\”
Last week, when Ms. Liu’s husband was opening the cabinet door, the door handle accidentally broke one of the wooden doors. Ms. Liu was very distressed when she found out. When she was trying to fix it, she discovered that the wooden door was actually made of density board. She thought she had been deceived, so she went to the merchant and asked for a refund of one and three for a total compensation of 20,800 yuan. The merchant did not accept this. So, Ms. Liu called 12345 to complain.
Recently, staff from Xiasha Market Supervision Office called Ms. Liu and shop operator Mr. Zhou together for coordination. Mr. Zhou said that at that time, the shopping guide directly sent the order to the manufacturer. Since the wooden door chosen by Ms. Liu has patterns, such large lines cannot be made of solid wood.Come on, you can only use density board. \”However, all other parts of the wooden doors are made of solid wood.\” Mr. Zhou said while taking out other wooden doors in the store for everyone to see. \”I also asked the shopping guide in the store to talk to the customer about this matter, but he probably forgot about it.\”
In order to apologize to Ms. Liu, Mr. Zhou gave two solutions: One is to make four pure solid wood glossy wooden doors for Ms. Liu; the other is that the wooden doors will not be returned and the compensation will be 5,200 yuan. In the end, Ms. Liu chose the second option.
